This site provides information on the Fan Edit of Frank Darabont's 'The Mist'. This version of the film adheres more closely to the storyline from the original source novella, including the hopeful 'Hartford' ending.

It is important to note that I personally LOVED Frank Darabont's film, and do not intend any malice to the great work he and the cast/crew did in filming 'The Mist'...it's just that his vision was SO CLOSE to exactly how I pictured it in my mind for over 20 years...the slight adjustments that would be required to mirror the entire novella from start to finish sounded like a fun project.

I certainly do

Example Edits/Revisions...
A few examples of the alterations that were made to achieve 'The Novella Cut'. They include...

- Removal of the MP scenes from the
Pharmacy Trip sequence, and the subsequent scenes where 'the MP in the pharmacy'  was mentioned.

- Several well done key scenes (based directly on sequences in the book) from the DVD 'Deleted Scenes' have been edited back into the storyline.

- Removal of Sally's death scene in the market.

- Removal of the sequence of exposition (explaining the source of the mist) wherein the crowd kills Private Jessup and throws him out in the mist...the sequence now ends as it did in the book, with the hanging soldiers.
